Dear Diary

 Wednesday. One of those days where I feel very sorry for myself. Where I feel broke. And old. And all those other reasons that we as human beings find to feel sorry for ourselves about. Looking at pictures from years past. Fun to do. But today, it doesn't help.

A better day. A long time ago.

The current state of the country/world, Just makes it more depressing. I miss Florida.

Slow Saturday

Up at 6am. Bicycle ride 16 miles. 2 hours. Meeting with the power washer guy. Making arrangements for house wash. Drove to Statesboro. Ate breakfast. at Egg place. Spent hour and a half grocery shopping at Publix (entire city of Statesboro also in Publix). Drove back home. Unloading and stashing 250  dollars of grocery.
Tired at this point and this occurred to me at this moment:

This photo was taken at Henry Flagler's hotel in St Augustine Florida circa 1900ish? A very bored young woman of means, bored to tears. Ho hum!!! The only thing that interests me in her photo, what was that on her head? Was that supposed to be a hat? How stylish they were. Turn of the 20th century upper class bored tourists in Florida. With Janky hats. And serious attitudes. 

Dear Diary

 Thinking about a blog post for today, memories of past road trips came to mind. Here's one:

A couple times as a kid my family made trips to Florida. Miami Beach Florida was pretty much the go to place for white middle class northerners back then. We stayed in an older but nice motel with the original name of Carib Resort Motor inn. We stayed 7 or 8 or 9 nights. Right on the beach with a nice old time pre lawyers swimming pool with a true deep end , diving board and slide. Many good memories. The older I get the more I revisit that place in my mind. That and many other places in time. That’s it.
